GUS-NC80 fusion protein

Construct Pattern

The GUS-NC80 fusion protein is a transgenic plant construct in which β-glucuronidase is fused to the 80-residue NC80 motif from Arabidopsis CRY2. In the cited study, this fusion was constitutively active despite being unphosphorylated, supporting that NC80 is sufficient to confer CRY2 physiological function when derepressed.

CRY2 C-terminal tail

Protein Domain

The CRY2 C-terminal tail from Arabidopsis CRY2 contains an 80-residue NC80 motif that is sufficient to confer CRY2 physiological function. Evidence from transgenic plant studies indicates that this region participates in blue light-responsive regulation through phosphorylation-linked derepression of NC80.
